The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has just released the full breakdown of how students performed in the 2025 UTME — and let’s just say, the numbers tell an interesting story.

Out of nearly 2 million candidates (to be exact, 1,955,069), over half of them scored between 160 and 199. That range alone had 983,187 candidates, which is about 50.3% of everyone who wrote the exam.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the score distribution:

160–199: 983,187 students (50.3%)

140–159: 488,197 students (25%)

200–249: 334,560 students (17.1%)

250–299: 73,441 students (3.8%)

300–319: 7,658 students (0.4%)

320 & above: 4,756 students (0.2%)

So in total, just 12,414 candidates (around 0.6%) scored above 300,  that’s the kind of score you usually need for very competitive courses like Medicine, Law, or Engineering.

120–139: 57,419 candidates (2.9%)

100–119: 3,820 candidates (0.2%)

Below 100: 2,031 candidates (0.1%)

It’s clear that most students landed somewhere in the middle of the score range. So if you fall into that 160–199 bracket, you’re not alone — that’s where the majority of this year’s candidates are sitting.

You don’t need to let this statistic scare you. Just pray for the best possible outcome for you, and that you get admitted to your preferred institution and course.
