JAMB Form: The 2025 UTME and Direct Entry registration details has been Officially released. 

To be eligible to apply, candidates must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2025.

If you’re younger than 16 by that date, you can only be considered if JAMB declares you an exceptionally brilliant candidate.

To qualify as exceptionally brilliant, you must score at least 80% in each of the following: UTME or A’LEVEL, Post-UTME, Senior School Certificate (SSCE), and JAMB’s special exam for exceptional candidates.

You also need to meet certain requirements. These include having a valid personal email address, a National Identification Number (NIN), and at least five relevant O’level credits, including English and Mathematics.

JAMB Form and Registration Guidelines (Step-by-Step)

 

The cost of the JAMB form varies each year, but it usually falls within the range of ₦4,000 to ₦6,000, including other service charges. Here is a step by step guideline on how to register:

Step 1: Use a Unique Phone Number

 

• Jamb candidates must register using a unique mobile number (SIM).
• This number can only be used by one person for JAMB registration.
• It becomes your personal ID for all future communications and transactions with JAMB.

 

Step 2: Send Your NIN via SMS

 

Using your personal GSM number, send your National Identification Number (NIN) to 55019 or 66019 via text.

How to do it:

• Text the word NIN, followed by a space, then your 11-digit NIN.

Example: NIN 00123456789

• Make sure there’s a space between “NIN” and your number.

Note: Do not use a number that has been used before for UTME/DE registration.

 

Step 3: Receive Your Profile Code

• Once your NIN is sent successfully, you’ll receive a 10-character Profile Code on your phone.
• If you’re a returning candidate, you’ll get the same Profile Code you used in previous years (as long as you use the same phone number).
• This code stays the same for any future JAMB application.

 

Step 4: Keep Your Phone Number Active

• The phone number you use to send your NIN will be linked to your name and used for all messages about your exam and admission.
• It’s essential to remember and keep the number active.
• By registering, you agree to receive SMS from JAMB (55019 or 66019), even if your line has “Do Not Disturb” (DND) activated.

 

Step 5: Use “Keep My Number” (Optional but Helpful)

 

• If you bought a SIM just for JAMB and don’t plan to use it often, you should ask your service provider to activate the “Keep My Number (KMN)” feature.
• KMN keeps your SIM active for up to three years and can be renewed.
• JAMB is not involved in this process, but it’s recommended to avoid your number being deactivated.
• Be sure to request this feature from your network provider when you buy your SIM.

 

Step 6: Do Not Change Your SIM Number

 

• After your profile is created, JAMB will not allow you to change your phone number, so make sure it’s one you’ll have long-term access to.

 

Step 7: Purchase the Application Form

 

You’ll need your Profile Code to buy the UTME/DE application form.

It can be purchased through:

Banks

• Mobile Money Operators (MMOs)
• Microfinance Banks (MFBs)
• Switches and USSD platforms
• Once the purchase is successful, an e-PIN will be sent to your phone.

 

Step 8: Complete Registration at an Accredited CBT Centre

 

• Go to any JAMB-accredited CBT centre with your Profile Code and e-PIN to complete the registration process.

 

Step 9: Biometrics and Photograph Capture

 

Note that your registration is not complete until:

 

• All ten fingerprints are captured at the CBT centre.
• A live photo is taken (passport photos are not accepted).
• You’ll be able to print your e-registration slip once these steps are completed.
• At least two fingerprints are required to verify your identity for the printout.
• Fingerprint verification will also be needed for all future JAMB-related activities.

Note: Group or school-based registration is not allowed. Many students who go that route often end up regretting it.

 

Step 10: Exam Day Verification

Only candidates who pass biometric verification on the exam day will be allowed to sit for the UTME or mock exams.

Parents or proxies are not allowed to handle any transaction on behalf of the candidate.

 

How To Prepare For JAMB

 

If you want to score high marks in Jamb, you need adequately prepared. Her are some tips to help you prepare properly:

 

1. Make sure you study the recommended textbooks and syllabus provided by JAMB.

2. Use past questions to study, It will help you get use to the pattern of the examination.

3. Participate in the JAMB Mock exams because it will help check your speed and accuracy. Jamb exams is always time based.

4. Create studying/reading timetable and be consistent.

Date for JAMB UTME 2025 Exams 

 

JAMB UTME 2025 exams will begin on Friday, 25th April 2025, and end on Monday, 5th May 2025.

 

How much is JAMB form and registration fees for 2026?

 

The official registration fees for 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE).has been released.

• All candidates must pay N3,500 for the JAMB form.

Others fees includes:

• N700 for Registration
• N1,500 as Examination Fees
• N1,500 for the Optional Mock-UTME (if taken at privately-owned centres)

 

What’s the Difference Between JAMB Direct Entry and JAMB UTME ?

The main difference between JAMB Direct Entry (DE) and JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is in the level of entry and the qualification requirements:

 

JAMB Direct Entry (DE):

 

Jamb direct entry is for candidates who have done a higher education qualification like National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diplomo (HND).

JAMB direct entry is designed for candidates who have already completed higher qualifications such as Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE),  National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or any other higher qualifications.

Also depending on the course and the university’s admission policies, DE candidates are allowed to apply for admission to continue from second or third year (200lv or 300lv) instead of starting from first year.

 

JAMB UTME:

 

JAMB UTME  is the standard examination for students seeking admission into the first year of a university programme. It is is for candidates who have only completed their O’level (SSCE/NECO/WASSCE).

They must write UTME and get up to the set cut of marks of the institution the pick to be  eligible for admission.
